Samorn is one of the three Eucalypt Australia Fellows for 2022 will host a workshop all about local eucalyptus and native plants.
Samorn will guide you through basic natural dyeing techniques including how to achieve colours and prints using eucalyptus leaves and native plants on all natural fibres.
A class for beginners and pro's! No previous experience required. All materials including fabrics (cotton, silk or wool scarf , hemp and linens ) provided You get to take home a eucalyptus plant of your choice.

You can find out when you take part in this exclusive cross cultural workshop where you will be led by textile artist and weaver, Samorn Sanixay, and Sonya Rankine, the South Australian NAIDOC 2021 Artist of the year.
DYEING, WEAVING & CULTURE with Sonya Rankine and Samorn Sanixay
A fabulous weekend of culture, (native) cuisine and colour.

Time : 9.30 - 4.30pm
Sonya will then guide you through the process of traditional weaving. Sharing with you the rich cultural tradition of weaving and the importance of weaving for Ngarrindjeri and Ngadjuri First Nation people of South Australia.
Samorn will introduce you to a world of natural dyeing. You will learn the traditional methods used by weavers and textile artisans of Laos that have existed for centuries.
Rebecca Sullivan of Warndu will be our chef and whip up delicious lunch ( and refreshments) featuring native Australian Cuisine.

Samorn Sanixay is a Eucalypt Australia Dahl Fellow for 2022 whose research is to create a Eucalyptus colour map of Australia.
