Felting, spinning and Natural Dyeing Workshop with Ann Toet, Jan Klaver and Samorn Sanixay

Price : $190 for one day (includes materials and refreshments) 

Join Textile artists Ann Toet, Jan Klaver and Samorn Sanixay and for a day of fun fabric dyeing, felting, learning to use a drop spindle.

Celebrate National Eucalypt Day  at Cool Country Natives! 

 

Natural Dyeing Workshop with Samorn Sanixay 

When: Sunday 27th March 2022

Location:  Cool Country Natives Store 

5A Beltana Road PIALLIGO NSW 2609

Time : 9.30am - 3.30pm 

 Samorn is one of the three Eucalypt Australia Fellows for 2022 will host a workshop all about local eucalyptus and native plants. 

Samorn will guide you through basic natural dyeing techniques including how to achieve colours and prints using eucalyptus leaves and native plants on all natural fibres. 

A class for beginners and pro's! No previous experience required. All materials including fabrics (cotton, silk or wool scarf , hemp and linens ) provided You get to take home a eucalyptus plant of your choice.

What happens when traditional Southeast Asian natural dyeing techniques using locally harvested eucalyptus leaves merges with Ngarrindjeri and Ngadjuri, Aboriginal weaving techniques? 

You can find out when you take part in this exclusive cross cultural workshop where you will be led by textile artist and weaver, Samorn Sanixay, and Sonya Rankine, the South Australian NAIDOC 2021 Artist of the year.

 

DYEING, WEAVING & CULTURE with Sonya Rankine and Samorn Sanixay

A fabulous weekend of culture, (native) cuisine and colour.

When: Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April, 2022

Location: 234 Hicks Road Armagh, 5453 South Australia

Time : 9.30 - 4.30pm

Sonya will then guide you through the process of traditional weaving. Sharing with you the rich cultural tradition of weaving and the importance of weaving for Ngarrindjeri and Ngadjuri First Nation people of South Australia. 

Samorn will introduce you to a world of natural dyeing. You will learn the traditional methods used by weavers and textile artisans of Laos that have existed for centuries.

Rebecca Sullivan of Warndu will be our chef and whip up delicious lunch ( and refreshments) featuring native Australian Cuisine.

Location:  Studio Of Mel Wallace in Gordon Park 

Time : 10am - 3.30pm 

Price : $200 per person

Come and join Samorn Sanixay who is a current  Eucalypt Australia Dahl Fellowship recipient  for a day of natural dyeing with locally grown plants, Samorn will guide you through basic dyeing techniques including how to achieve colours and prints using eucalyptus leaves as well as local native plants.
